Fluoxetine is used in the management of depression, anxiety and other mood disorders by increasing serotonin levels in the brain and can cause sexual side effects by changing the homeostasis of sex hormones and increasing oxidative stress. Since many men who take fluoxetine are of reproductive age and sperm are exposed to fluoxetine for a considerable time, this study aimed to examine the in vitro effects of fluoxetine on human sperm biochemical markers and sperm parameters. Semen samples from 30 fertile men were divided into three groups: a positive control group, a negative control group and a fluoxetine-treated group.

Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is poorly understood, with causes identified in only 25% of cases. Emerging evidence suggests links between trace elements (TEs) and POI. This study is the first to compare concentrations of manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), selenium (Se), molybdenum (Mo), arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), and lead (Pb) across urine, serum, and whole blood in women with POI compared to healthy controls (HC), aiming to explore their distribution and potential associations with POI.

Facet engineering of CuO for efficient electrochemical glucose sensing.

Anal Chim Acta

January 2025

Hubei Provincial Key Laboratory of Green Materials for Light Industry, School of Materials and Chemical Engineering, Hubei University of Technology, Wuhan, 430068, PR China. Electronic address:

Background: Accurate monitoring glucose level is significant for human health management, especially in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of diabetes. Electrochemical quantification of glucose is a convenient and rapid detection method, and the crucial aspect in achieving great sensing performance lies in the selection and design of the electrode material. Among them, CuO, with highly catalysis ability, is commonly used as electrocatalyst in non-enzymatic glucose sensing.

December 2024

Department of Infectious Diseases and Hepatology, Yichun People's Hospital, Yichun336000, China.

To compare the effectiveness and safety profile of tenofovir amibufenamide (TMF) and tenofovir alafenamide (TAF), especially the effects on lipid metabolism in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. A retrospective study was conducted on the virological response rate, biochemical response rate, renal function indicators, and lipid metabolism status of 159 cases with chronic hepatitis B (72 cases with TMF and 87 cases with TAF) after 48 weeks of antiviral treatment. The effects of the two drugs on lipid metabolism were further explored through cell and animal experiments.

The widespread application of pyraclostrobin (PYR), an important strobilurin fungicide with low utilization efficiency, urgently requires optimization for sustainable agriculture. In this study, nanoformulated PYR with nano-iron bismuthide (FeBi) was successfully prepared via flash nanoprecipitation, yielding spherical PYR/FeBi nanoparticles (NPs, Φ120 nm) with stable drug loading capacity (67.9%) and controlled release.
