This study developed and validated a bioassay for ramoplanin in human, dog, rabbit, and rat sera. Mean analyte recoveries and coefficients of variation for duplicate assays with each serum using coded and spiked (30-720 ng/ml) samples ranged from 93.5% to 106.3% and from 1.8% to 5.4% respectively. All correlation coefficients were > 0.99 and, for each serum, there was no significant difference in overall analyte recovery between the 2 test days.

is a bacterial pathogen that causes gonorrhoea, a sexually transmitted infection. Increasing antimicrobial resistance in is providing motivation to develop new treatment options. In this study, we investigated the effectiveness of the antibiotic ramoplanin as a treatment for infection.

Treatment of bacterial infections is one of the major challenges of our time due to the evolved resistance mechanisms of pathogens against antibiotics. To circumvent this problem, it is necessary to understand the mode of action of the drug and the mechanism of resistance of the pathogen. One of the most potent antibiotic targets is peptidoglycan (PGN) biosynthesis, as this is an exclusively occurring and critical feature of bacteria.

Phagocytosis is a key function in various cells throughout the body. A deficiency in photoreceptor outer segment (POS) phagocytosis by the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) causes vision loss in inherited retinal diseases and possibly age-related macular degeneration. To date, there are no effective therapies available aiming at recovering the lost phagocytosis function.

infection (CDI) is a major cause of nosocomial diarrhea that is deemed a global health threat. strain BI/NAP1/027 has contributed to the increase in the mortality, severity of CDI outbreaks and recurrence rates (rCDI). Updated CDI treatment guidelines suggest vancomycin and fidaxomicin as initial first-line therapies that have initial clinical cure rates of over 80%.
