This study examines the relationship between the occipito-frontal circumference (OFC) and crown-rump length (CRL) from birth to 15 months. Data where obtained from 100 male and 100 female white infants at term, 2, 4, 6, 10 and 15 months of age. The data indicate that documentation of the OFC/CRL ratio is an effective way to determine if head circumference is in the normal range for a particular child's body size.

Studies in humans and rodents show exercise in pregnancy can modulate maternal blood pressure, vascular volume, and placental efficiency, but whether exercise affects early uteroplacental vascular adaptations is unknown. To investigate this, CBA/J female mice mated with BALB/c males to generate healthy uncomplicated pregnancies (BALB/c-mated) or mated with DBA/2J males to generate abortion-prone pregnancies (DBA/2J-mated), were subjected to treadmill exercise (5 days/week, 10 m/min, 30 min/day for 6 weeks before and throughout pregnancy), or remained sedentary. In uncomplicated pregnancies, exercise caused symmetric fetal growth restriction in fetuses evidenced by reductions in fetal weight, crown-to-rump length, abdominal girth and biparietal diameter.

The neuroendocrine hormone melatonin is associated with circadian rhythms and has antioxidant and vasodilative properties. In cattle, melatonin rescues fetal growth during maternal nutrient restriction in a seasonally dependent manner, but melatonin research in swine is limited. Introduction: This study aimed to construct consolidated and updated ultrasonographic fetal biometry and estimated fetal weight (EFW) references for the Hong Kong Chinese population and evaluate the extent of under- and overdiagnosis of small-for-gestational-age (SGA) and large-for-gestational-age (LGA) using these new references.
Methods: Fetal biometry and EFW references were constructed using the Generalised Additive Model for Location, Scale, and Shape, based on data from 1679 singleton pregnancies in non-smoking Chinese women. Ultrasound scans were performed at 12 to 40 weeks of gestation to measure biparietal diameter, head circumference, abdominal circumference (AC), and femur length, following standardised protocols.
