Results are presented for proteins with known three-dimensional structure (lysozyme, myoglobin, ribonuclease), which show that the probability of label incorporation upon bombardment by "hot" tritium atoms may be quantitatively linked with the surface area of the protein accessible to water molecules. Possible deviations from simple linear dependency caused by particular mechanisms of label introduction are discussed. The data obtained in experiments with model systems were used to determine the accessible surface area of human serum albumin, for which structural data is not sufficiently accurate to allow estimation of accessible surface area. Experimental data correlate reasonably well with estimations based on conventional concepts of the relationship between accessible surface area and molecular weight for globular proteins.

Eccrine acrospiromas, also known as hidradenomas, are rare benign tumors that develop from the eccrine sweat glands. Hidradenoma is a multilobular, nonencapsulated, well-circumscribed dermal nodule that may involve the epidermis and extend into the subcutaneous fat. The etiology and prevalence of nodular hidradenoma are not well defined, but it is noted that it can occur spontaneously or traumatically.

Biomechanical properties of a mandibular first molar with different cavity designs [traditional access cavities (TEC-I & TEC-II), ninja access cavity (NEC), conservative access cavity (CEC), truss access cavity (Tr-EC), caries-driven access cavity (Cd-EC), caries-driven truss access cavity (Cd-TrEC)] were compared using finite element (FE) analysis. Models were subjected to three different loads. The highest stress distribution was observed on the enamel surface of the Cd-EC design and the dentin surface of the TEC-II.

Purpose: Given the potential role of nasolacrimal duct (NLD) morphometry in the aetiology of primary acquired obstructions, it is imperative that clinicians have access to detailed anatomical information. The aim of this study was to determine normative data on nasolacrimal duct morphometry in the Turkish population sample and to provide guidelines for clinicians.
Methods: The study included retrospectively computed tomography images of a healthy Turkish population sample of 151 individuals, 79 of whom were female and 72 of whom were male.

In this study, three novel derivatives of benzo[b]thiophene-2-carbaldehyde (BTAP1, BTAP2, and BTAP3) were successfully synthesized and comprehensively characterized using spectroscopic techniques including FTIR, UV-VIS, HNMR, and CNMR. Thermal analysis through TGA and DTA demonstrated remarkable thermal stability with a maximum threshold at 270 °C. Spectroscopic investigations revealed π → π* transitions in all compounds, attributed to the conjugated system comprising benzothiophene rings connected to bromophenyl/ aminophenyl/phenol rings via α, β-unsaturated ketone bridges.

Life on the nanoscale has been made accessible in recent decades by the development of fast and noninvasive techniques. High-speed atomic force microscopy (HS-AFM) is one such technique that shed light on single protein dynamics. Extending HS-AFM to effortlessly incorporate mechanical property mapping while maintaining fast imaging speed allows a look deeper than topography and reveal details of nanoscale mechanisms that govern life.
