Study of the clinical and psychopathological features of depressions in 40 inpatients, whose states corresponded to the criteria of chronic depressive disorders as described in different papers and classifications, including ICD-10 and DSM-III-R, made it possible to distinguish two types of staged development of chronic depressions: with acute or gradual onset. The possible criteria of chronicity of depressions are as follows: combination of hypersthenic, hyperthymic and sensitive traits in heredity, combination of hyperthymic hysterical and sensitive traits in premorbid personality, early appearance of affective disorders, presence of long-term periods of affective disorders of a subclinical level in life history, bipolar type of the course of these disorders, reactive-provoked depressive episodes with melancholic structure, a history of apathic adynamic subdepressive disorders in the preexisting course of illness, anxiety in acute episodes, disharmony in elements of the depressive triad, hypochondriacal preoccupation of self-accusational ideas, neurotic symptoms in the structure of acute episode, the 'out' direction of the "accusational vector" already during this stage, appearance of such phenomena as "verbalization of affect", "Sunday impairment', "forced hyperactivity", tendency to hospitalism, hypomanic "windows", appearance of egocentric, grumble, capricious features, sharpness of sensitive and hysterical features of premorbid personality in depressive states.

Indices of climate vulnerability are used to predict species' vulnerability to climate change based on intrinsic physiological traits, such as thermal tolerance, thermal sensitivity and thermal acclimation, but rarely is the consistency among indices evaluated simultaneously. We compared the thermal physiology of queen bumblebees between a species experiencing local declines () and a species exhibiting continent-wide increases (). We conducted a multi-week acclimation experiment under simulated climate warming to measure critical thermal maximum (CT), critical thermal minimum (CT), the thermal sensitivity of metabolic rate and water loss rate and acclimation in each of these traits.

Purpose: Findings from previous Mendelian randomization (MR) studies disagreed with the current scientific consensus regarding the role of physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior in ischemic stroke (IS). We reassessed these associations with a focus on etiological subtypes of IS and the potential mediating roles of cardiometabolic traits and brain imaging-derived phenotypes (IDPs).
Methods: We performed MR analyses using summary statistics from genome-wide association studies of sedentary behavior and PA (n = 88,411~608,595), cardiometabolic traits (n = 393,193~694,649), brain IDPs (n = 33,224) and the latest IS data (62,100 cases and 1,234,808 controls).

Widespread anthelmintic resistance has complicated the management of parasitic nematodes. Resistance to the benzimidazole (BZ) drug class is nearly ubiquitous in many species and is associated with mutations in beta-tubulin genes. However, mutations in beta-tubulin alone do not fully explain all BZ resistance.

Background: This study aims to evaluate the predictive usefulness of a habitat radiomics model based on ultrasound images for anticipating lateral neck lymph node metastasis (LLNM) in differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), and for pinpointing high-risk habitat regions and significant radiomics traits.
Methods: A group of 214 patients diagnosed with differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) between August 2021 and August 2023 were included, consisting of 107 patients with confirmed postoperative lateral lymph node metastasis (LLNM) and 107 patients without metastasis or lateral cervical lymph node involvement. An additional cohort of 43 patients was recruited to serve as an independent external testing group for this study.

This study examined how Israeli men who pay women for sex (MPWS) construct and sustain a moral identity within the social context that often portrays them as deviants, perpetrators, and abusers, thereby challenging their ability to maintain a respectful and dignified image. Twenty-three Israeli MPWS participated in in-depth semi-structured interviews, which were then analyzed using constructivist grounded theory method. Using the theoretical framework moral reflexivity, we conceptualize three central dynamics of constructing and sustaining a moral identity in the context of paying for sex: Maintaining an intact moral self by resisting the moral conflict; presenting a reflexive agonizing moral self; and constructing a moral self through identity fragmentation.
