Objective: To evaluate the clinical results of the vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) combined with a naso-intestinal nutritional tube (NIT) and a gastric decompression tube (GDT) for the treatment of esophagogastrostomy neck fistula (ENF).

Objective: The objective of this study was to compare the effect of naso-intestinal tube and naso-gastric tube in relieving postoperative ileus in elderly patients with colorectal cancer.

Methods: Patients (n = 46) with ileus symptom following radical surgery for treating colorectal cancer were placed with either naso-intestinal tube at duodenum or conventional naso-gastric tube. Then, their waist perimeter, intra abdominal pressure, maximum diameter in bowls, length of time to pass flatus or passage of bowel movement or to return to diet, length of hospital stay, daily drainage, serum levels of lactic acid, hemoglobin, and creatinine as well were compared.

Data concerning efficacy, safety, and patient satisfaction of levodopa/carbidopa intestinal gel (LCIG, Duodopa, AbbVie, Wavre, Belgium) infusion in routine clinical practice were needed to maintain reimbursement of the drug in Belgium. Patients with advanced Parkinson's disease in 27 neurology centers across Belgium were included. Of 100 patients who underwent naso-intestinal (NI) evaluation with LCIG, 67 received permanent treatment with LCIG via percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy and jejunal tube (PEG/J).

Most of our current knowledge of the digestibility of food proteins and the methods to estimate it has been derived from work with animals. Because the microbiota of the large intestine alter the amino acid composition of the digesta, and because only trivial quantities of amino acids are absorbed intact from the large intestine, the current method of choice for assessing amino acid digestibility is ileal digestibility corrected for basal endogenous losses, that is, standardized ileal digestibility.
