The urinary excretion of albumin was measured on 7 consecutive days after a bee or wasp sting in 20 healthy persons, using a semiquantitative immunochemical chromatographic procedure (Micral stick). The mean albumin excretion was 11.1 +/- 15.0 (SD) mg/l. This was not significantly different from the findings in a control group of 17 volunteers with no history of bee or wasp sting (mean 8.7 +/- 17.4 mg/l). Pathologic albumin excretion (50-100 mg/l) was found in three of the sting group, with mean 37.2 +/- 23.7 mg/l. After 2 more months the urinary albumin excretion had normalized in two of the three, with mean 19.3 +/- 16.0 mg/l. Nephrotic syndrome did not occur. Reactions to the sting corresponded to 1-4 on the Müller scale, but were not correlated to albumin excretion.

Background: Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and treatment-resistant minimal change disease (TR-MCD) are heterogeneous disorders with subgroups defined by distinct underlying mechanisms of glomerular and tubulointerstitial injury. A non-invasive urinary biomarker profile has been generated to identify patients with intra-kidney tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-activation and to predict response to anti-TNF treatment. We conducted this proof-of-concept, multi-center, open-label clinical trial to test the hypothesis that in patients with FSGS or TR-MCD and evidence of intra-renal TNF activation based on their biomarker profile, short-term treatment with adalimumab would reverse the elevated urinary excretion of MCP-1 and TIMP-1.

Uranium poisoning, particularly from exposure to Depleted Uranium (DU), occurs when uranyl ions enter the bloodstream and bind primarily to transferrin, osteopontin, and albumin before entering cells via corresponding receptors on renal tubular membranes, leading to cellular damage. Uranium poisoning remains a significant clinical challenge, with no ideal treatment currently available. In this study, we investigate the therapeutic potential of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell exosomes (MSC-EXs) in mice exposed to DU.

This study tested the ISL against renal damage induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) and explored its underlying mechanisms. Adult male rats were assigned to four groups: (1) control on a standard diet (STD), (2) ISL on STD (30 mg/kg), (3) HFD, and (4) HFD + ISL (30 mg/kg). After 12 weeks of dietary intervention, ISL treatment led to significant reductions in body weight gain, visceral fat, and glucose and insulin levels in HFD-fed rats.

Objective: To identify the underlying molecular mechanism of Modified Hu-Lu-Ba-Wan (MHW) in alleviating renal lesions in mice with diabetic kidney disease (DKD).
Methods: The db/db mice were divided into model group and MHW group according to a random number table, while db/m mice were settled as the control group (n=8 per group). The control and model groups were gavaged daily with distilled water [10 mL/(kg·d)], and the MHW group was treated with MHW [17.
