We report the application of a method which combines digestion with pancreatin and neutral detergent treatment in the analytical study of dietary fiber from cassava. The use of pancreatin previous to the detergent extraction enabled rapid filtration, thus giving more reproducible results for neutral detergent fiber (NDF). Acid detergent fiber (ADF), hemicellulose, lignin and pectin were also determined. The values obtained for NDF (4.65%) and pectin (1.17%) are very important, considering their role in the digestive process.

The effects of wheat and oat dietary fiber (DF) alone or combined on T2DM remain unclear. In this research, / diabetic mice were fed with diets containing 10% insoluble wheat dietary fiber (WDF), 10% insoluble oat dietary fiber (ODF), and 10% WODF (mixture of WDF and ODF, WDF : ODF = 1 : 1) for 8 weeks. The results showed that WDF, ODF, and WODF all reduced the body weight and fasting blood glucose (FBG) and improved oral glucose tolerance in / mice.

Introduction: In ruminants, a symbiotic rumen microbiota is responsible for supporting the digestion of dietary fiber and contributes to health traits closely associated with meat and milk quality. A holistic view of the physicochemical profiles of mixed rumen microbiota (MRM) is not well-illustrated.
Methods: The experiment was performed with a 3 × 4 factorial arrangement of the specific surface area (SSA: 3.

Post-streptococcal autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders (PANDAS) are a group of pathological condition characterized by sudden-onset obsessive-compulsive and tic disorders following beta-hemolytic Streptococcus group A (GAS) infection, hypothesized to be caused by autoimmune mechanisms targeting the basal ganglia. Scant literature is available regarding the microbiota composition in children with PANDAS, however few studies support the hypothesis that streptococcal infections may alter gut microbiota composition in these patients, leading to chronic inflammation that may impact the brain function and behavior. Notable changes include reduced microbial diversity and shifts in bacterial populations, which affect metabolic functions crucial for neuroinflammation.

Tapirs are hindgut fermenters with a natural diet dominated by browse, with a certain proportion of wild fruit. By contrast, diets fed to tapirs in zoos are often dominated by domestic fruit and other sources of easily digestible carbohydrates, which have been linked to obesity and various health problems. We aimed at better understanding the digestive physiology of tapirs, measuring the digestive efficiency of 13 lowland (Tapirus terrestris) and five Malayan (Tapirus indicus) tapirs from five zoos on various zoo diets by recording intake and total faecal excretion.
