Objectives: To investigate the prevalence of spine symptoms and spine disability, self-care and care seeking behaviors in a random sample of Indigenous adults residing in Cross Lake, northern Manitoba, Canada.

Study Design And Setting: Orally administered survey in Cree or English to a representative sample of Pimicikamak citizens from the treaty ( = 150/1931 houses) and non-treaty ( = 20/92 houses) land, between May and July 2023. Questions ( = 154) were derived from the 2018 First Nations Regional Health Survey, 2020 Canadian Community Health Survey, and 2021 The Global Burden of Disease study, covering demographics, spine symptoms, chronic conditions, activity limitations, general health, self-care, medication, and satisfaction with care.

Single-nucleotide-resolution genomic maps of O6-methylguanine from the glioblastoma drug temozolomide.

Nucleic Acids Res

January 2025

Department of Health Sciences and Technology, ETH Zurich, Schmelzbergstrasse 9, Zurich 8092, Switzerland.

Temozolomide kills cancer cells by forming O6-methylguanine (O6-MeG), which leads to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. However, O6-MeG repair by O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) contributes to drug resistance. Characterizing genomic profiles of O6-MeG could elucidate how O6-MeG accumulation is influenced by repair, but there are no methods to map genomic locations of O6-MeG.

Infection Program, Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, Department of Microbiology, Monash University, Clayton Victoria, Australia; Centre to Impact AMR, Monash University, Clayton, Victoria, Australia; Department of Infectious Diseases, Alfred Health and School of Translational Medicine, Monash University, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Electronic address:

Objective: The IMP-4 carbapenemase is an endemic cause of carbapenem resistance in the Asia-Pacific region. Our aim was to determine the dissemination mechanism of the bla gene.

Methods: Twelve representative Australian IMP-4 clinical isolates from The Alfred Hospital, were characterised using antimicrobial susceptibility testing and genome and plasmid assemblies analysed.

Characterization of TFIIE-regulated genes by transcriptome analysis.

Turk J Biol

October 2024

Faculty of Science, Molecular Biology and Genetics, İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkiye.

Background/aim: Previous studies on general transcription factor II E (GTF2E) showed that it is associated with certain groups of diseases, such as colon cancer and trichothiodystrophy, but the global effect of GTF2E on cellular processes is still not widely characterized. This study aimed to investigate and characterize the effect of GTF2E on the transcription level of genes and identify the cellular processes and diseases associated with GTF2E.

Materials And Methods: The human colorectal carcinoma cell line HCT116 used in the study was transfected at a 30 nM concentration with siGTF2E1 or nontarget negative siRNA.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of endovascular treatment of carotid blowout syndrome.

J Clin Neurosci

January 2025

Department of Neurosurgery, Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing 100053, China; China International Neuroscience Institute (China-INI), Beijing 100053, China; Department of Interventional Neuroradiology, Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing 100053, China. Electronic address:

Unlabelled: Carotid Blowout Syndrome (CBS) is a rare and life-threatening condition that necessitates prompt intervention to prevent fatal hemorrhage. This study compares the outcomes of two primary endovascular approaches: reconstructive interventions, which aim to preserve carotid artery function using stents or balloon angioplasty, and deconstructive interventions, which involve vessel occlusion to halt bleeding. A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed by searching multiple databases for relevant studies published from January 2000 to August 2023.
