A case is presented of Wegener granuloma with lesion in the maxillary sinus, orbit, eye, lungs, kidneys and on the skin, observed in the Department of Infectious Diseases. The diagnosis was made after seven months of the disease, on the basis of clinical picture and histological examination. The applied treatment with cyclophosphamide and steroids led to regression of most symptoms. The permanent consequence was left eye amblyopia of significant degree. During 3.5 years of follow-up three recurrencies of the disease were observed which were associated with attempts at dose reduction of the drugs used. Presently, the patient is in a remission lasting 22 months. Five months passed as yet from the completion of the treatment. In view of the possibility of disease recurrence, the patient remains in further follow-up of the department.

Background: With Direct Acting Antivirals for Hepatitis C virus (HCV), cure is possible in > 95% including those with HIV/HCV co-infection. Achieving strategic targets for cure requires addressing barriers including suboptimal care engagement. We adapted Data to Care (D2C), a public health strategy designed to identify and link persons out of care (OOC) for HIV, for persons with HIV/HCV co-infection untreated for HCV.

Calcified amorphous tumor (CAT) is a rare, mostly incidental tumor-like cardiac lesion of unknown histogenesis. Current imaging modalities do not differentiate between CAT and other masses. As it can be a source for embolization, surgical excision of CAT is mandatory.

This case study of Kongsfjorden, western coastal Svalbard, provides insights on how freshwater runoff from marine- and land-terminating glaciers influences the biogeochemical cycles and distribution patterns of carbon, nutrients, and trace elements in an Arctic fjord system. We collected samples from the water column at stations along the fjord axis and proglacial river catchments, and analyzed concentrations of dissolved trace elements, together with dissolved nutrients, as well as alkalinity and dissolved inorganic carbon. Statistical tools were applied to identify and quantify biogeochemical processes within the fjord that govern the constituent distributions.
