Background: Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is a frequent and severe complication among newborns in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). It is associated with elevated morbidity and mortality rates, more extended hospital stays and increased health care costs. Implementing preventive care bundles and structured sets of evidence-based practices reduces VAP incidence.

Background: Recently, the role of a rapid increase in serum osmolality in the inhibition of postnatal ductal closure has garnered attention. This study evaluated the efficacy of high-humidity care in preventing the onset of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in extremely premature infants.
Methods And Results: The high-humidity group (HHG) comprised 28 infants (24to 27weeks gestational age) recruited prospectively within 6 h after birth between July 2019 and September 2021; these infants were cared for in 90% humidity for the first 72 h of life.

Objectives: This study aimed to explore the association between lipid-based Cardiovascular Event Risk Tests (CERT1 and CERT2), including ceramides (Cer) and phosphatidylcholine (PC) lipid species, and rheumatoid arthritis (RA), an inflammatory disease that can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Design: Prospective population-based cohort study.
Setting: Primary care centres across five geographical areas in Finland.

Purpose/objective(s): Use of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) versus three-dimensional conformal external beam radiation therapy (3D-CRT) for definitive chemoradiation therapy (CRT) in locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (LA-NSCLC) has been associated with decreased late pneumonitis, decreased high dose to the heart (itself associated with improved overall survival), and improved patient quality of life. In a statewide radiation oncology quality consortium, we sought to evaluate the impact of IMRT versus 3D-CRT treatment technique on dosimetry and toxicity.
Materials/methods: From 2012 to 2022, 1746 LA-NSCLC patients meeting inclusion criteria underwent definitive RT (90% CRT) with either 3D-CRT (n=313) or IMRT (n=1433) and were enrolled in the [quality consortium] prospective, multicenter statewide initiative.
