Recordings were made from nociceptive dorsal horn neurones in the anaesthetized rat 3 and 5 days after ultraviolet (UV) irradiation of the hindpaw. The electrically evoked A beta-fibre-evoked responses from the paw were enhanced and their thresholds were lowered. Spontaneous neuronal activity was increased but the C-fibre-evoked responses were unaltered. These enhanced responses, suggestive of allodynia, were reduced by N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDA) antagonism.

Improving the regeneration of the tendon-bone interface (TBI) helps to decrease the risk of rotator cuff retears after repair surgeries. Unfortunately, the lack of inherent healing capacity of the TBI, insufficient mechanical properties, and abnormal and persistent inflammation during repair are the key factors leading to suboptimal healing of the rotator cuff. Therefore, a high-strength rotator cuff repair material capable of regulating the unbalanced immune response and enhancing the regeneration of the TBI is urgently needed.

Macrophages play a central role in antitumor immunity, making them an attractive target for gene therapy strategies. However, macrophages are difficult to transfect because of nucleic acid sensors that can trigger the degradation of foreign plasmid DNA. Here, we developed a macrophage-specific editing (MAGE) system by which compact plasmid DNA encoding a CasRx editor can be delivered to macrophages by a poly(β-amino ester) (PBAE) carrier to bypass the DNA sensor and enable RNA editing in vitro and in vivo.
