Scant Evidence for Long-Range Atmospheric Transport of Particle-Bound Benzotriazole Ultraviolet Stabilizers.

Environ Sci Technol

January 2025

Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences, University of Toronto Scarborough, 1265 Military Trail, Toronto, Ontario, Canada M1C 1A4.

Despite benzotriazole UV stabilizers (BT-UVs) being widely used since the 1960s, few empirical data on their atmospheric presence exist. UV-328 was added to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, based in part on model calculations indicating atmospheric long-range transport potential. We investigated the atmospheric occurrence of BT-UVs at multiple sites that differ greatly in their proximity to potential sources.

Background: The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) sparked significant health concerns worldwide, prompting policy makers and health care experts to implement nonpharmaceutical public health interventions, such as stay-at-home orders and mask mandates, to slow the spread of the virus. While these interventions proved essential in controlling transmission, they also caused substantial economic and societal costs and should therefore be used strategically, particularly when disease activity is on the rise. In this context, geosocial media posts (posts with an explicit georeference) have been shown to provide a promising tool for anticipating moments of potential health care crises.

MAPK-CncC Signaling Pathways Regulate the Antitoxic Response to Avermectin-Induced Oxidative Stress in Juvenile Chinese Mitten Crab, .

Environ Sci Technol

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Application of Ecology and Environmental Protection in Plateau Wetland of Sichuan, Xichang University, Xichang 415000 Sichuan Province, China.

This study delves into the adverse effects of AVM, emphasizing oxidative stress induction in the Chinese mitten crab, , and the role of the MAPK-CncC signaling pathway in mediating the antioxidative response. Our findings reveal a dose-dependent impairment in growth performance, alongside occurrence of oxidative stress. The activity of CAT and superoxide dismutase increased significantly in all treatments (0.

Atomic-Level Tin Regulation for High-Performance Zinc-Air Batteries.

J Am Chem Soc

January 2025

Beijing Key Laboratory of Green Chemical Reaction Engineering and Technology, Department of Chemical Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China.

The trade-off between the performances of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) presents a challenge in designing high-performance aqueous rechargeable zinc-air batteries (a-r-ZABs) due to sluggish kinetics and differing reaction requirements. Accurate control of the atomic and electronic structures is crucial for the rational design of efficient bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts. Herein, we designed a Sn-Co/RuO trimetallic oxide utilizing dual-active sites and tin (Sn) regulation strategy by dispersing Co (for ORR) and auxiliary Sn into the near-surface and surface of RuO (for OER) to enhance both ORR and OER performances.

Selective catalytic reduction of NO by NH(NH-SCR) remains challenging for diesel vehicles due to the complex exhaust condition. Cu-SAPO-18 zeolite has emerged as an efficient catalyst for the NH-SCR process, attributed to its unique small pore configuration and high NH-SCR activity. Herein, Zr-modified Cu-SAPO-18 has been fabricated and evaluated for the reduction of NO.
