Molecular genetic analysis of DNA by PCR-VNTR was performed in a family with hereditary retinoblastoma presenting some difficulties in pedigree analysis. PCR-VNTR allowed to perform a more accurate counselling in this family. Analysis of the way of transmission, carrier status exclusion (in two persons) and confirmation (in one) was possible only by VNTR-PCR.

Sclerodermatous specimens obtained from a patient with extensive cGvHD after an HLA-identical sibling bone marrow transplantation were cultured in order to derive tissue myofibroblasts. All proliferating a-SMA+ fibroblastoid cells revealed recipient origin as examined by variable number tandem repeat (VNTR)-PCR.

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the efficiency of three methods to determine the molecular diversity of 34 Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) strains isolated from 17 cattle herds.
