Compartmentalization is crucial for control over complex biological cascade reactions. In microgels, the formation of discrete compartments allows for simultaneous uptake and orthogonal release of physicochemically distinct drugs, among others. However, many state-of-the-art approaches yielding compartmentalized microgels require the use of specific, though not always biocompatible, components and temperatures well above the physiological range, which may damage possible biological cargo.

Analysis of energy pathways is useful in helping to understand adaptations to specific sports practices, which vary according to the type of effort and individual characteristics of the athletes. In this sense, this study aimed to describe the physiological changes related to lipid markers in amputee athletes who practice para-sport jiu-jitsu. This is an observational study, which included three male amputee athletes, aged between 41 and 46 years old and with more than 24 months of experience at a professional level.

Background: High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy has developed as a valuable tool for respiratory support in pediatric critical care. It offers an intermediate level of support between traditional low-flow oxygen and non-invasive ventilation (NIV). Studies suggest its effectiveness in improving oxygen delivery, work of breathing, and secretion clearance.

Innovative applications of MXenes in dialysis: enhancing filtration efficiency.

Nanoscale

January 2025

Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Istinye University, Istanbul 34396, Türkiye.

MXenes, a family of two-dimensional transition metal carbides and nitrides, exhibit exceptional properties such as high electrical conductivity, large surface area, and chemical versatility, making them ideal candidates for various dialysis applications. One prominent application of MXenes lies in the efficient removal of toxic metals and harmful dyes from wastewater. Their unique structure allows for rapid adsorption and selective separation, significantly improving purification processes.

Background: Identifying markers or genes crucial for growth traits in Zhongwei goats is pivotal for breeding. Pinpointing genetic factors linked to body size gain enhances breeding efficiency and economic value. In this study, we used the MGISEQ-T7 platform to re-sequence 240 Zhongwei goats (133 male; 107 female) belonging to 5 metrics of growth traits at different growth stages (40 days and 6 months, here in after referred to as 40d and 6 m), namely, Body Weight (BW), Body Height (BH), Body Length (BL), Chest Circumference (CC), Tube Circumference (TC) were examined.
