Study Design: Retrospective cohort study.

Objective: Evaluate the utility of Delirium Risk Assessment Score (DRAS), Delirium Risk Assessment Tool (DRAT), and Delirium Elderly At-Risk (DEAR) in patients undergoing posterior lumbar interbody fusions.

Background: Surgical interventions can place patients at risk for postoperative delirium (POD), an acute and often severe cognitive impairment associated with poor outcomes.

Despite its importance in understanding biology and computer-aided drug discovery, the accurate prediction of protein ionization states remains a formidable challenge. Physics-based approaches struggle to capture the small, competing contributions in the complex protein environment, while machine learning (ML) is hampered by the scarcity of experimental data. Here, we report the development of p ML (KaML) models based on decision trees and graph attention networks (GAT), exploiting physicochemical understanding and a new experiment p database (PKAD-3) enriched with highly shifted p's.

The role of the early-life gut microbiome in childhood asthma.

Gut Microbes

December 2025

Copenhagen Prospective Studies on Asthma in Childhood, Copenhagen University Hospital, Herlev-Gentofte, Gentofte, Denmark.

Asthma is a chronic disease affecting millions of children worldwide, and in severe cases requires hospitalization. The etiology of asthma is multifactorial, caused by both genetic and environmental factors. In recent years, the role of the early-life gut microbiome in relation to asthma has become apparent, supported by an increasing number of population studies, research, and intervention trials.

Abolition of Aorticorenal Ganglia Pacing Responses Improves Denervation Efficacy.

Hypertension

January 2025

Cardiology Department (P.B., X.L., V.T.T., M.A.B., A.V., E.Y., D.M.N., U.P., J.L., S.P.T., P.C.Q.), Westmead Hospital, Sydney, Australia.

Background: Transcatheter renal denervation (RDN) remains inconsistent despite developments in ablation technologies, due to the lack of an intraprocedural physiological end point.

Objective: To identify whether aorticorenal ganglion (ARG) guided RDN using microwave (MW) catheter leads to more consistent denervation outcomes compared with empirical MW ablation.

Methods: Pigs underwent sham procedure (n=8) or bilateral RDN using an in-house built open-irrigated MW catheter.
