The objective of this work was to study the influence of combined transplantation of stem cells (multypotent mesenchimal stromal and haemopoetic stem cells) on the haemopoesis of old and mature laboratory animals under the condition of ionizing radiation. The result of the experiment shows that under physiological conditions the combined transplantation brings the erithropoesis activation, under the ionizing radiation conditions it brings the erythroid and granulocytopoesis activation. Moreover the combined MMSC and HSC transplantation gives cytoprotective action on the myeloid tissue due to decrease of cyto genically changed cells in the mature animals under the condition of ionizing radiation, but in the old animals this effect can be seen even under physiological condition.

The so-called andropause is an ill-defined collection of symptoms in a group of men who may have low but may also have normal androgen levels. Unlike the proven benefits of hormone replacement therapy in women, the effects of testosterone supplementation in men are equivocal. It may increase sexual interest, but rarely to a level thought adequate by the patient.

A total of 282 patients with leukemia have been treated by transplantation from HLA-matched siblings using marrow depleted of T cells with CAMPATH-1 and autologous complement. The incidence of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) of grades 2-4 was only 12% but the maximum incidence of graft failure was 15%. A significant increase in relapse cannot yet be detected in acute leukemia but relapse in chronic granulocytic leukemia (CGL) was substantially above that reported before T cell depletion.

Complex clinical, neurological and psychological examination was carried out in 23 children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), being in complete initial remission from 5 to 12 years and without medication following the successful intensive therapy according to the protocol 0171 from 2 1/2 to 9 years. Somatic deficiency was observed in 2 children. Slightly hypoplastic bone marrow haemopoesis was found in 2 children.
