It can be safely said that up till now, no method of vaccination (including recent genes encoding vaccines) has yet proved to be totally effective since they gave partial and low levels of protection against S. mansoni infection. The objective of this work is to try testing the immunogenic effect of two purified non infected B.

Two major insulin-like growth factor-binding proteins, IGFBP-2 and IGFBP-3, were identified by Western ligand blotting of human follicular fluid (FF) aspirated from luteinizing follicles during ovarian stimulation with human menopausal gonadotropin (LH and FSH). IGFBP-1 was also present in FF, and an IGFBP with a mol wt of 24000 daltons, present in serum, appeared to be absent in FF. Identification of IGFBP-1, IGFBP-2, and IGFBP-3 was confirmed using IGFBP-specific antisera.

Thiosulfate-reductase activity (TSR) measured as sulfide release from thiosulfate was detected in crude extracts of Chlorella using dithioerythritol (DTE) as electron donor. Purification of this activity by ammonium-sulfate precipitation between 35% and 80% followed by Sephadex G-50 gel filtration, diethylaminoethyl-cellulose chromatography, and gel filtration on Biogel A 1.5 M led to four distinct proteins having molecular weights of: TSR I, 28000; TSR II, 26500; TSR IIIa, 55000; TSR IIIb, 24000 daltons.

Sequence analyses of purified fragments suggest that the subunit is composed of a homogeneous polypeptide chain, containing just over 230 residues. The primary structure of this chain was established except for a 14-residue internal part which was only determined by composition.

Both are free from unspecific and ultraviolet-specific endonucleases and exonucleases. The two enzymes are monomeric proteins of around 24000 daltons.
