The quantity of Listeria species was determined in 49 samples of various types of water (river, brackish water, urban wastewater). Twenty nine strains of Listeria were isolated. These were mainly identified as Listeria monocytogenes (72,4%), but Listeria innocua, Listeria grayi, Listeria ivanohovii and Listeria welshimeri were also present. With the exception of water taken from the estuary, 74.4% of samples contained Listeria in mean concentrations of between 2 MPN/100 ml and 1320 MPN/100 ml in fresh surface water and untreated sewage respectively.

Recently, interest in eco-friendly techniques for producing antibacterial food packaging films has surged. Within this context, plasma polymerization is emerging as a promising approach for applying degradable antibacterial coatings on various plastic films. This research therefore employs an atmospheric pressure aerosol-assisted plasma deposition technique to create polyethylene glycol (PEG)-like coatings embedding zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) of varying sizes on polyethylene (PE) substrates.

Nowadays, antimicrobial resistance and foodborne burden are a prevalent global concern for human health and sustainable development. In this context, this study aimed to investigate the effect of Bacopa monnieri (L.) Pennell extract against pathogenic foodborne bacteria (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Listeria monocytogenes).

Marine mucilage disasters, primarily caused by global warming and marine pollution, threaten food security and the sustainability of marine food resources. This study assessed the microbial risks to public health in common sole, deep-water rose shrimp, European anchovy, Atlantic horse mackerel and Mediterranean mussel following the mucilage disaster in the Sea of Marmara in 2021. The total viable count, total Enterobacteriaceae count and the presence of Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella spp.

We report a rare case of Listeria ivanovii in elderly immunocompromised man with chronic kidney disease from South India, which was identified by conventional methods as well as MALDI-TOF and confirmed with 16S rRNA sequencing. In addition, literature search was done and the 10 cases of Listeria ivanovii infections reported earlier were discussed.

Listeria monocytogenes raises major challenges for the food industry. Due to its capacity to form biofilms, this pathogen can persist in processing environments and contaminate the final products. Neutral electrolyzed water (NEW) may offer a promising and eco-friendly method for controlling L.
