12 population groups of Hungary, 1514 individuals altogether, have been studied for polymorphisms of alpha 1antitrypsin, serum cholinesterase, paraoxonase and delta-aminolevulinic acid dehydrase, N-acetyltransferase variation and aldehyde dehydrogenase deficiency. A possible relationship between their allele frequencies and environmental factors in the context of ecogenetic and pharmacogenetic phenomena in Hungary is discussed.

Identifying factors that affect treatment response is a central objective of clinical research, yet the role of common genetic variation remains largely unknown. Here, we develop a framework to study the genetic architecture of response to commonly prescribed drugs in large biobanks. We quantify treatment response heritability for statins, metformin, warfarin, and methotrexate in the UK Biobank.

Excessive and persistent aggressiveness is the most common behavioral problem that leads to psychiatric referrals among children. While half of the variance in childhood aggression is attributed to genetic factors, the biological mechanism and the interplay between genes and environment that results in aggression remains elusive. The purpose of this systematic review is to provide an overview of studies examining the genetics of childhood aggression irrespective of psychiatric diagnosis.

Background: Although genetic and environmental factors are involved in the aetiology of bipolar disorder [BD], studies focused on their interplay are lacking. The current investigation examines interactions and correlations between polygenic risk scores [PRS] for BD and major depressive disorder [MDD] with stressful life events [SLEs] in liability for BD.
Methods: This study used data from 1715 participants (862 bipolar cases and 853 controls) taken from UK and Canadian samples.

Studies that focus on individual covariates, while ignoring their interactions, may not be adequate for model-informed precision dosing (MIPD) in any given patient. Genetic variations that influence protein synthesis should be studied in conjunction with environmental covariates, such as cigarette smoking. The aim of this study was to build virtual twins (VTs) of real patients receiving clozapine with interacting covariates related to genetics and environment and to delineate the impact of interacting covariates on predicted clozapine plasma concentrations.

The clinical and socioeconomic burden of asthma exacerbations (AEs) constitutes a major public health problem. In the last 4 years, there has been an increase in ethnic diversity in candidate-gene and genome-wide association studies of AEs, which in the latter case led to the identification of novel genes and underlying pathobiological processes. Pharmacogenomics, admixture mapping analyses, and the combination of multiple "omics" layers have helped to prioritize genomic regions of interest and/or facilitated our understanding of the functional consequences of genetic variation.
