Cryptosporidiosis is a zoonotic disease in humans and animals that is caused by infection with the oocysts of Cryptosporidium. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are important players in regulating the innate immune response against parasitic infection. Public miRNAs data for studying pathogenic mechanisms of cryptosporidiosis, particularly in natural hosts, are scarce.

Methods: A total of 300 Carias gariepinus fish were collected from two freshwater sources: the Nile River (180) and drainage canals (120).
