Injury to the biliary system can be a major problem leading to significant morbidity for the patient. This most commonly occurs due to iatrogenic causes and identification as early as possible is critical to maximizing the patient outcome. The timing of identification will dictate the optimal time for repair, and this should be undertaken at a facility with hepatobiliary surgery expertise as well as advanced gastroenterology and interventional radiology services.

Introduction: Gallstone disease (GSD) is among the most common disorders worldwide. Gallstones are established in up to 15% of the general population. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) has become the "gold standard" for treatment of GSD but is associated with a higher rate of certain complications, namely, bile duct injury (BDI).

To compare the safety and clinical efficacy of endoscopic and surgical treatment of patients with delayed iatrogenic bile duct injury (DBDI) with severity (SG) grade 1 to 2. The clinical data of 129 patients with SG grade 1 to 2 DBDI who received endoscopic or surgical treatment in the First Hospital of Lanzhou University from November 2007 to November 2021 were retrospectively collected. There were 46 males and 83 females, aged ((IQR)) 54(22)years(range: 21 to 82 years).

An iatrogenic bile duct injury (IBDI) is a severe complication that has a great impact on the physical and mental quality of life of the patients, especially for patients with postoperative benign biliary stricture. The effective measures for end-to-end biliary-to-biliary anastomosis intraoperative are essential to prevent the postoperative bile duct stricture, but also a challenge even to the most skilled biliary tract surgeon. A postoperative benign biliary stricture is an extremely intractable complication that occurs following IBDI.

Background: Three-dimensional (3D) models are increasingly used to help surgeons, guiding them through the complex hepatic vasculobiliary anatomy. The biliary tract is a relatively untapped territory with only a few case reports described in medical literature. Our aim is to present an innovative 3D reconstruction methodology for biliary imaging and surgical planning, applied to a case of iatrogenic biliary stricture, with fusion of segmented CT and MRI images.
