A case of a femoral head necrosis, with collapsed joint surface after fracture of the femoral neck will be presented. Following varisation osteotomy, the necrotic parts of the bone was removed and filled with cancellous bone. A standardized bone block of the iliac crest was implanted into the hole. After the operation the patient was painfree. The X-rays showed the improvement of the bony structure and later a spherical remodeling of the femoral head. This result is in opposition with the earlier opinion of the disability of femoral head remodeling in adults. It is technically very important to pack tight the hole in the femoral head with cancellous bone chips after necrectomy, and to ensure the revascularisation with vascularised bone block.

This study compares and investigates the efficacy of 2 different surgical methods for early stage femoral head necrosis and analyze the factors affecting surgical outcomes and long-term femoral head survival. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 48 patients (52 hips) with femoral head necrosis who underwent either the Super-Path or Watson-Jones approach from January 1, 2016, to January 1, 2024. Harris scores at multiple time points before and after surgery were compared using repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA), and a COX proportional hazards model was used to analyze risk factors.

Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease (LCPD) involves femoral head osteonecrosis caused by disrupted blood supply, leading to joint deformity and early osteoarthritis. This study investigates the role of miRNA-223-5p in regulating hypoxia-induced apoptosis and enhancing osteogenesis in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). Utilizing a juvenile New Zealand white rabbit model of LCPD established through femoral neck ligation, we transfected BMSCs with miR-223-5p mimics, inhibitors, and controls, followed by hypoxic exposure.

The primary weight-bearing structure of the proximal femur, trabecular bone, has a complex three-dimensional architecture that was previously difficult to comprehensively display. This study examined the spatial architecture of trabecular struts in the coronal, sagittal, and horizontal sections of the proximal femur using 21 cases prepared with P45 sectional plasticization. The primary compressive strut (PCS) exhibited a "mushroom-like" shape with upper and lower parts.

: Femoral neck fractures are rare but serious injuries in children and adolescents, often resulting from high-energy trauma and prone to complications like avascular necrosis (AVN) and nonunion. Even rarer is the development of slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) following femoral neck fracture, which presents unique diagnostic and treatment challenges. SCFE can destabilize the femoral head, with severe cases requiring complex surgical interventions.

The Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL), one of the four major ligaments in the knee joint, resides on the outer aspect of the knee. It forms a vital connection between the femur and the fibula. The LCL's primary role is to provide stability against Varus forces, safeguarding the knee from undue rotation and tibial displacement.
