Background: We currently lack clear definitions for structural and symptomatic spinal osteoarthritis (OA). To define spinal OA and create diagnostic criteria for this condition, it is necessary to determine the relationship between clinical signs and symptoms of back pain and radiographic features of OA. Notably, recent studies suggest a defining sign of spinal OA could be a limited or painful spinal range of motion (ROM).

: There seems to be a global reduction in the number of clinical post-mortems requested and performed worldwide, suggesting a decreasing need for post-mortem examinations. Despite advances in medical technology, autopsies remain a relevant tool to determine cause of death. : A total of 276 post-mortem results were extracted from the NHLS lab track database, of which only 152 were included in this study.

taxa are sources of valuable essential oils obtained from aged rhizomes used by various industries, including pharmacy, cosmetic, perfume, and food industry, in which irones are the most important aroma components. In this study, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) obtained from dried rhizomes of three endemics from Croatia, , , and , were studied. The VOCs were isolated by three different methods: headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) using divinylbenzene/carboxene/polydimethylsiloxane (DVB/CAR/PDMS) fiber or polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene (PDMS/DVB) fiber, and hydrodistillation (HD).

Objective: The aim of the present study was to identify the risk factors for severe maternal outcomes (SMO) of women with suspected or confirmed infections using the data from the WHO global maternal sepsis study (GLOSS).
Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis of the GLOSS cohort study, which involved pregnant or recently pregnant women with suspected or confirmed infection around 713 health facilities in 52 low- and middle-income countries, and high-income countries. A nested case-control study was conducted within the GLOSS cohort.

The time and location of sampling as well as the number of samples per season can influence a reliable assessment of bathing water quality. In this study, we investigated the spatio-temporal variation of fecal indicator bacteria (FIB) density and the effects of FIB variability and sampling frequency on the assessment of a single sample and the annual and final assessment of coastal bathing water quality. Increasing the number of samples from 10 to 20 per bathing season had a significant impact on bathing water quality assessment at sites where water quality fluctuations had previously been observed, resulting in a change in water quality to a lower category in 36 % of annual and 54 % of final assessments, suggesting that the minimum number of samples per season should be increased at such sites.
