Objective: To compare the efficacy of intracervical vs. vaginal prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) gel for induction of labor.
Method: Sixty-eight women scheduled for elective induction of labor at term were randomized to receive either 0.5 mg intracervical PGE2 (I/C group, n = 37) or 2 mg vaginal PGE2 gel (Vag group, n = 31) on a 6-hourly basis for a maximum of three doses.
Results: Three participants who delivered by cesarean section soon after gel administration were excluded from further analysis. Twenty-nine of 30 (97%) in the Vag group were successfully induced compared with 23 of 35 (66%) in the I/C group (P < 0.01). The induction-active labor intervals were 8.0 +/- 5.4 h for the Vag group and 23.1 +/- 27.6 h for the I/C group (P = 0.002). The induction-delivery intervals were 12.4 +/- 6.3 h for the Vag group and 29.8 +/- 29.1 h for the I/C group (P = 0.001). Uterine hyperstimulation and perinatal outcome were similar in both groups.
Conclusion: Vaginal PGE2 was more efficacious than intracervical PGE2 in inducing labor.

Two extruded diets isoenergetic, isonitrogenous, and isolipidic were formulated with poultry meal (control diet) as the source of animal-origin proteins (160 g/kg of feed) or with 90 g/kg of poultry meal and 70 g/kg of hydrolyzed feather meal (treated diet) and were fed to eight dogs (four adult female and four adult male English Setters). Body condition, muscle condition, and fecal consistency scores and body weight were monitored at the beginning of the trial and after 3, 7, 15, and 45 days, and no significant differences ( > 0.05) were observed between diets and between sex.

Introduction: The global prevalence of overweight and obesity has reached epidemic proportions amongst children and adolescents, with approximately one third of children in Europe being overweight or obese. There is a higher likelihood for overweight and obesity reported for vulnerable groups of children, also known as children in need. As there is currently no knowledge of the best practice interventions for improving nutrition and physical activity habits amongst these vulnerable groups, the aim of this rapid review was to examine evidence that focused on best practice interventions to tackle overweight and obesity in children in need in Greece and/or other European countries.

Introduction: We aimed to investigate the effects of central kisspeptin-10 and p234 administration on basal brain activity and epilepsy-like conditions induced by 4-aminopyridine (4-AP), as well as their roles in the electrocorticogram (ECoG) power spectrum and EEG waves.
Methods: Thirty-five male Wistar rats were divided into five groups: sham,4-AP (2.5 mg/kg i.

Context: Hematological malignancies represent a heterogeneous group of diseases with variable and often unpredictable illness trajectories. Comparisons between hematological and solid tumor malignancy referrals to an outpatient palliative care clinic have not been explored.
Objectives: This study compared characteristics, referral trends, and time from first palliative care clinic visit to death between patients with hematological and solid tumor malignancies.

Oxidative stress and neuronal apoptosis could be an important factor leading to post-hemorrhagic consequences after germinal matrix hemorrhage (GMH). Previously study have indicated that relaxin 2 receptor activation initiates anti-oxidative stress and anti-apoptosis in ischemia-reperfusion injury. However, whether relaxin 2 activation can attenuate oxidative stress and neuronal apoptosis after GMH remains unknown.
