Background: The pathogenesis of anorexia nervosa (AN) is controversial.
Method: A retrospective case series was studied to investigate the post-viral onset of AN.
Results: Four consecutive in-patients with severe restrictive AN spontaneously volunteered histories of 'glandular fever'-like illnesses immediately before the onset of their eating disorder. This association has not previously been described. Possible pathogenic pathways include both non-specific and specific viral disruptions in central homeostasis, particularly involving corticotrophin-releasing hormone (CRH) regulation.
Conclusion: Such mechanisms are speculative, but biologically and historically plausible.

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is defined as an autoimmune neuromuscular disorder where autoantibodies disrupt synaptic transmission at the neuromuscular junction by targeting the acetylcholine receptor (AChR), muscle-specific kinase (MuSK), or other proteins related to the AChR complex. This disruption leads to characteristic muscle weakness and rapid fatigability. Clinically, MG is classified based on the age of onset into three distinct categories: early-onset MG (younger than 50 years), late-onset MG (between 50 and 64 years), and very-late-onset MG (65 years and older).

New-onset chronic musculoskeletal (MSK) pain (>3 months duration) is a common symptom of post-COVID-19 syndrome (PCS). This study aimed to characterise new-onset chronic MSK pain in patients with PCS and its overlap with Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS). We enrolled patients with new-onset chronic MSK pain post-COVID-19 and assessed the nature of the pain and associated symptoms using the C19-YRS (Yorkshire Rehabilitation Scale).

Mitochondria are vital for most cells' functions. Viruses hijack mitochondria machinery for misappropriation of energy supply or to bypass defense mechanisms. Many of these mitochondrial dysfunctions persist after recovery from treated or untreated viral infections, particularly when mitochondrial DNA is permanently damaged.
