The synthesis and structure-activity relationship (SAR) analysis of a novel series of trialkoxyaryl derivatives, as specific and competitive inhibitors of platelet activating factor (PAF), are described. Molecular modeling comparisons of PAF with the known antagonists Ginkgolide B and L-652731 led to the selection of N-[2-[(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoyl)oxy]ethyl]-N,N,N-trimethylammonium iodide (1) from the Wellcome registry of compounds and to the synthesis of the lead compound N-[2-[[4-(hexyloxy)-3,5-dimethoxybenzoyl]oxy]ethyl]-N,N,N- trimethylammonium iodide (3, pKb 5.43). Further SAR considerations directed the design to 2-(hexyloxy)-1,3-dimethoxy-5-[4-(4-methylthiazol-5-yl)butyl] benzene (38) (pKb 7.14), a novel, specific, and competitive inhibitor of the PAF receptor in rabbit-washed platelets.

A fluorescence "turn-off-on" nanoprobe is designed by using europium-doped strontium molybdate perovskite quantum dots (Eu:SMO PQDs) for the sequential detection of hypoxanthine (Hx) and Fe. The Eu:SMO PQDs were prepared by the sol-gel method using Sr(NO), (NH)MoO.4HO, and Eu(OCOCH) as precursors.

As a special kind of supramolecular compound with many favorable properties, pillar[]arene-based supramolecular polymer networks (SPNs) show potential application in many fields. Although we have come a long way using pillar[]arene to prepare SPNs and construct a series of smart materials, it remains a challenge to enhance the mechanical strength of pillar[]arene-based SPNs. To address this issue, a new supramolecular regulation strategy was developed, which could precisely control the preparation of pillar[]arene-based SPN materials with excellent mechanical properties by adjusting the polymer network structures.

Unlabelled: School meals play a critical role in supporting students' biopsychosocial growth, development, learning, academic performance, and the establishment of healthy eating habits. In public institutions, food procurement is conducted through formal public procurement processes. However, emphasizing cost-effectiveness in bidding criteria, such as prioritizing the lowest product price, may inadvertently encourage the acquisition of foods high in critical nutrients.

Probiotics are gaining recognition as a viable strategy for mitigating cardiovascular risk factors. Specifically, recent studies highlight their potential benefits in managing cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and inflammation, which are critical components in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). This comprehensive review aims to elucidate the impact of probiotic consumption on major cardiovascular risk factors, including individuals with hypertension, type II diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, hypercholesterolemia, and in secondary prevention in coronary artery disease.

The ingestion of food contaminated with citrinin (CIT) poses a variety of health risks to humans and animals. The immunogens (CIT-COOH-BSA, CIT-H-BSA) and detection antigen (CIT-COOH-OVA, CIT-H-OVA) were synthesised using the active ester method (-COOH) and formaldehyde addition method (-H). A hybridoma cell line (3G5) that secretes anti-CIT monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) was screened via CIT-H-BSA immunisation of mice, cell fusion, and ELISA screening technology.
