Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated how exposure to malathion and carbon tetrachloride affects bioenergetic processes in rats and whether the enterosorbent enterosgel helps mitigate these effects.
  • Rats were divided into nine groups, receiving malathion daily and carbon tetrachloride twice, while measuring enzyme activity related to energy metabolism and glucose levels.
  • Results showed that enterosgel improved mitochondrial enzyme activity and reduced serum glucose, indicating a restoration of energy processes in the rats following toxic exposure.

Currently, an important ecological problem is environmental pollution and its negative impact on living organisms, the consequences of which are deterioration in general health and the manifestation of various diseases, poisoning, endo- and exotoxicosis. Enterosorption method was proposed as a promising method for removing toxic substances from the living organisms using enterosorbents which can absorb various toxic substances of endogenous and exogenous nature in the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract. It has been proposed to use polymer-containing enterosorbents for eliminating of heavy metals from the organism.

The review analyzes mechanisms and concomitant factors in developing IgE-associated allergic diseases provoked by food allergens and discusses clinical symptoms and current approaches for the treatment of food allergies. The expediency of using enterosorbents in complex therapy of food allergies and skin and respiratory manifestations associated with gastroenterological disorders is substantiated. The review summarizes the experience of using enterosorbents in post-Soviet countries to detoxify the human body.

The aza-Michael reaction of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane () and -silatrane () with acrylates affords functionalized silyl-(-) and silatranyl-(-) mono- and diadducts with up to a 99% yield. Their structure has been proved with IR and NMR spectroscopies, mass spectrometry and XRD analysis. The hydrolytic homo-condensation of triethoxysilanes - gives siloxanes -, which form complexes with Ag, Cu, and Ni salts.
