Background: There is a paradox in Russia and its Arctic regions which reports extremely low rates of occupational diseases (ODs), far below those of other socially and economically advanced circumpolar countries. Yet, there is widespread disregard for occupational health regulations and neglect of basic occupational health services across many industrial enterprises.
Study Design And Methods: This review article presents official statistics and summarises the results of a search of peer-reviewed scientific literature published in Russia on ODs and occupational health care in Russia and the Russian Arctic, within the period 1980-2010.
For the present time it became apparent that Helicobacter pylori (Hp) is present in the surface water groundwater wells, in the water from water distribution system. WHO classifies Hp to a group of emerging pathogens for epidemiological surveillance of diseases associated with water. The study, of various aspects of the permeation of Hp into the body of water requires an integrated approach including microbiological, hygienic and epidemiological components.

The sanitary-hygienic well-being of 6 volunteers for the 105-d chamber experiment simulating some of the spaceflight factors was evaluated. To evaluate the pertinent means and methods, clinical, hygienic and microbiological investigations were employed, and volunteers' subjective opinions of personal hygiene items and associated procedures were analyzed Based on the examination of integument and oral cavity, entries in the questionnaires concerning subjective sensations, opinions and objective data, all volunteers were invariably in good state. Level of the skin total microbial contamination was found to depend on volunteers' diligence to fulfill the hygienic routine.
