Background: Lipid pneumonia in children has rarely been described in Europe. In some countries, due to local customs, the course is chronic. This study describes an acute lipid pneumonia in a young boy.

Case Report: A 12 year-old boy, previously treated for a rhabdomyosarcoma, developed acute fever with thoracic pain. A chest radiograph revealed heterogenous consolidation. The patient was given oral antibiotics, although no improvement was observed. The diagnosis of lipid pneumonia was made by a bronchoscopy with bronchoalveolar lavage. Treatment with corticosteroids was started. Clinical manifestations improved rapidly. One month later, chest radiograph and biological findings were normal.

Conclusion: Diagnosis of lipid pneumonia should be considered in children with an acute febrile pneumonitis non resolving with antibiotic treatment. Examination of the fluid obtained by bronchoalveolar lavage confirms the diagnosis.

(Mp), a unique pathogen devoid of a cell wall, is naturally impervious to penicillin antibiotics. This bacterium is the causative agent of pneumonia, an acute pulmonary affliction marked by interstitial lung damage. Non-macrolide medications may have potential adverse effects on the developmental trajectory of children, thereby establishing macrolides as the preferred treatment for in pediatric patients.

Background: Lipoid pneumonia (LP) is a rare disease caused by the accumulation of lipids and lipid-laden macrophages in the alveoli inducing damage. LP is difficult to differentiate from other similar diseases without pathological evidence, such as upper respiratory tract infection (URTI), pneumonia, cryptogenic organizing pneumonia (COP), pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP), lung mucinous adenocarcinoma and pulmonary edema. Given the high misdiagnosis rate and limited statistical clinical and treatment data, there is an urgent need for novel indicators of LP.

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) has a significant impact on public health, especially in light of the recent SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. To enhance disease characterization and improve understanding of the underlying mechanisms, a comprehensive analysis of the plasma lipidome, metabolome and proteome was conducted in patients with viral and bacterial CAP infections, including those induced by SARS-CoV-2. Lipidomic, metabolomic and proteomic profiling were conducted on plasma samples of 69 patients suffering either from viral or bacterial CAP.

A novel molecular design based on a quinazolinone scaffold was developed the attachment of aryl alkanesulfonates to the quinazolinone core through a thioacetohydrazide azomethine linker, leading to a new series of quinazolinone-alkanesulfonates 5a-r. The antimicrobial properties of the newly synthesized quinazolinone derivatives 5a-r were investigated to examine their bactericidal and fungicidal activities against bacterial pathogens like , (Gram-positive), , , (Gram-negative), in addition to (unicellular fungal). The tested compounds demonstrated reasonable bactericidal activities compared to standard drugs.
