Macromorphological comparison of frozen sections concerning the problem of congruency of the hip joint.

Published: June 1995

We report on a comparative anatomical investigation of hip joints from animals which can walk on two legs or use their distal legs for jumping. The investigation supports the results of Bläsius [1] that the hip is not congruent. The cartilage of the load induction area is thicker. This means that one can only see congruency on X-rays, because cartilage cannot be visualised.

Even though the records of Tetraploa spores from Mesozoic and Cenozoic sedimentary strata along with spore-pollen assemblages are numerous and well documented, no foliicolus Tetraploa macroconidia have been reported to date. Here, we report the first occurrence of conidia assignable to modern Tetraploa Berk. & Broome (Tetraplosphaeriaceae: Pleosporales: Dothideomycetes) on cuticular fragments of compressed monocot leaf recovered from the middle Siwalik sediments (Late Miocene; 12-8 Ma) of Himachal Himalaya, India.

In the study, the achene macromorphological and micromorphological characters of the genus Artemisia distributed in Turkey have been researched with the target of knowing systematically important carpological structures for the examined species. Macro-morphological structures of the achenes including color, shape, dimension, and carpopodium diameter were studied with 100 achenes of 10 specimens per taxa with a Light Microscope. Micro-morphological features of the achenes containing surface ornamentation, anticlinal and periclinal cell walls, epidermal cells, and the presence of secondary structures were examined with a Scanning Electron Microscope.

Regional shear wave elastography of Achilles tendinopathy in symptomatic versus contralateral Achilles tendons.

Department of Radiology, School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Wisconsin-Madison, E3/311, 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI, 53792, USA.

Objectives: Ultrasound often corroborates clinical diagnosis of Achilles tendinopathy (AT). Traditional measures assess macromorphological features or use qualitative grading scales, primarily focused within the free tendon. Shear wave imaging can non-invasively quantify tendon elasticity, yet it is unknown if proximal structures are affected by tendon pathology.
