Many theories suggest that creative thinking involves a dynamic transition between different mental states, yet empirical evidence supporting this notion remains scarce. The dual process model proposes that spontaneous thinking and deliberate thinking drive the dwell in and the transitions between different mental states during creative thinking, but there is a debate over whether the two types of thinking operate in parallel or in sequence. To address these gaps, we conducted a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) study in 41 college students during a creative storytelling task.

Ischemic stroke is a worldwide disease with high mortality and morbidity. Kv7/KCNQ channels are key modulators of neuronal excitability and microglia function, and activation of Kv7/KCNQ channels has emerged as a potential therapeutic avenue for ischemic stroke. In the present study, we focused on a new Kv7/KCNQ channel opener QO-83 on the stroke outcomes and its therapeutic potential.

Background: Conventional medical management, while essential, cannot address all multifaceted consequences of Parkinson's disease (PD). This pilot study explores the potential of a co-designed creative arts therapy on health-related quality of life, well-being, and pertinent non-motor symptoms.
Methods: We conducted an exploratory pilot study with a pre-post design using validated questionnaires.

Mental and oral health are interrelated, and problems in one area usually affect the other. This review discusses the complex relationships between oral and mental health, particularly the psychosocial challenges faced by individuals with mental health disorders in maintaining oral hygiene, including stigma, lack of access to care, and financial barriers. It also discusses how psychiatric conditions influence oral health, with regard to issues such as dry mouth, gum disease, and tooth decay, and how poor oral health can aggravate mental well-being.
