Published: January 1995

The successful experimental transmission of enzootic intranasal tumor (EIT) from goat to goat is described. Ten kids, less than 48 hours old, from a flock free of the disease and seronegative for ruminant lentiviruses were inoculated intranasally or intrasinusally with either nasal fluid from goats with naturally occurring EIT or EIT retrovirus concentrated from such fluids. EIT was induced in three kids after 12-24 months. The EIT retrovirus was demonstrated in tumor material from each of the three kids by western blotting and electron microscopy. All kids were seronegative for ruminant lentiviruses.

National epidemiological investigations of microbial infections greatly benefit from the increased information gained by whole-genome sequencing (WGS) in combination with standardized approaches for data sharing and analysis. To evaluate the quality and accuracy of WGS data generated by different laboratories but analysed by joint pipelines to reach a national surveillance approach. A national methicillin-resistant (MRSA) collection of 20 strains was distributed to nine participating laboratories that performed in-house procedures for WGS.

Mouse models are vital tools for discerning the relative contributions of host and microbial genetics to disease, often requiring the transplantation of microbiota between different mouse strains. Transfer methods include antibiotic treatment of recipients and colonization using either co-housing with donors or the transplantation of fecal or cecal donor material. However, the efficiency and dynamics of these methods in reconstituting recipients with donor microbes is not well understood.

Objective: This study focuses on the development and evaluation of nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) loaded with aloperine as a potential therapeutic approach for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Methods: The NLCs were designed to enhance the solubility, stability, and bioavailability of aloperine, a compound with vasodilatory and anti-inflammatory properties. Through a series of experiments including single-factor experimentation, transmission electron microscopy, high-performance liquid chromatography, in vivo pharmacokinetics, and tissue distribution studies, we assessed the physicochemical properties, drug release profiles, and in vitro and in vivo performance of this novel nanocarrier.

Background: Asthma is a prevalent respiratory disease, and its management remains largely unsatisfactory. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been demonstrated to be efficacious in reducing airway inflammation in experimental allergic diseases, representing a potential alternative treatment for asthma. Migrasomes are recently identified extracellular vesicles (EVs) generated in migrating cells and facilitate intercellular communication.

Electronic address:

As a zoonotic virus, highly sensitive detection of monkeypox virus is crucial for its prevention and control due to its rapid increase in cases worldwide and the extremely high risk of virus transmission. In this paper, based on the principle of antigen-antibody specific recognition, an ultrasensitive resonance Raman biosensing probe was prepared using a molecule with the bifunctionality of resonance Raman effect and capturing antibody; and with the strong affinity of the biotin-streptavidin (Bio-SA) system, Bio-antibody and SA test strips were prepared. To match the T-line of the test strip, a portable Raman instrument with a strip-shaped spot was designed.
