Age is associated with increased tissue stiffness and a higher risk of low back pain, particularly in older, sedentary workers who spend long periods sitting. This study explored how trunk stiffness changes with age and its relationship with posture during prolonged sitting in a sample of 37 women aged 20-65 years. Age was assessed as both Chronological Age and Fitness Age, with trunk stiffness measured using a passive trunk flexion apparatus.

Background: The Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) is a well-validated and widely used patient-reported outcome instrument to evaluate lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) patients' treatment outcomes. The objective of the present study was to determine long the average interval between 2 preoperative measurements can be before a clinically significant difference of 10 points or more might appear.
Methods: This was a retrospective observational study utilizing prospectively collected data from a single university hospital database, which was compatible with the national registry.

Background: Fusion changes the biomechanics of the spine leading to the potential development of adjacent segment disease. Despite many studies on adjacent segment disease, it is largely unknown how spinal fixation affects the mechanical properties of the adjacent disc. The purpose of this study was to assess whether axial compression causes mechanical disruption to the annulus when the caudal spinal level is immobilized or injured.

This study aims to explore the relationship between the gut microbiome, serum metabolome, and FR in chronic LBP patients.
Methods: Serum metabolomic profiling and gut microbiome analysis were conducted in chronic LBP patients with and without FR (LBP + FR, = 40; LBP, = 40) and Healthy Controls (HC, = 31).

This case report describes a 70-year-old male presenting with limb weakness, urinary retention and tandem cervical and lumbar spinal stenosis with complicating white cord syndrome, a rare reperfusion injury post decompression surgery. Initially admitted following an unwitnessed fall, the patient's neurological examination indicated that progressive weakness of the limbs and sensory loss etiology is cervical and lumbar spondylosis with severe spinal canal stenosis, confirmed by imaging. Due to rapid deterioration, he underwent C5 corpectomy, cervical decompression and fusion.
