Catecholamine uptake into PC12 cells, in the presence and absence of ATP, was measured in a bicarbonate-buffered Krebs Ringer. ATP enhanced significantly the uptake in a dose-dependent manner with maximal uptake at 1-3 mM. ATP increased the Vmax of uptake by 3-5 fold for both dopamine and norepinephrine, without a significant change in the Km. ATP-stimulated amine uptake was temperature- and Na(+)-dependent and robust in bicarbonate, but not in HEPES buffer. The ability to enhance uptake was not observed with metabolites of ATP. GTP and UTP were equally effective to ATP in enhancing CA uptake. This uptake was less sensitive to uptake inhibitors in bicarbonate buffered media than in phosphate-buffered media, and more so in the presence of ATP. It is suggested that ATP is an allosteric modulator of the transporter and that a stable ATP analog, with ATP-like enhancement of dopamine uptake, may be an effective cocaine antagonist.

This work quantifies, through use of molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, the kinetic rates of physical surface processes occurring at a plasma-water interface. The probabilities of adsorption, absorption, desorption and scattering were computed for O, NO, NO, NO, OH, HO, HNO, HNO, and NO as they interact with the interface at three water temperatures: 298 K, 323 K, and 348 K. Species are categorised into the short-residence group (O, NO, NO, and NO) and the long-residence group (OH, HO, HNO, HNO, and NO) based on their mean surface residence time.

Diabetic retinopathy is the most common sight-threatening complication of diabetes, necessitating regular monitoring of progression via diabetic eye screening (DES). The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends DES annually for diabetic patients aged 12 years and older. Objectives: The objective is to evaluate the efficacy of F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (F-FDG-PET) computed tomography (CT) in the evaluation of tumor response to preoperative/palliative chemoradiotherapy (CRT) for advanced colorectal cancer; including metastatic cancer at primary presentation and recurrent cancers with local and/or distant metastasis.
Materials And Methods: Fifty patients with advanced rectal cancer underwent two point imaging with 18 FDG PET-CT before and after 3 weeks of completion of preoperative/palliative CRT in between 2016 and 2022. Patients with locally recurrent cancer also underwent radical surgery.
