Objective: This study describes our 28-year experience with colovesical fistula at a major United States Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and highlights the clinical presentation and treatment strategies used to manage this condition.
Methods: We reviewed patient charts from the electronic medical record of the Department of Veterans Affairs. All patients who underwent colectomies, bladder repairs and management of gastrointestinal fistulas were downloaded to identify those who had the diagnosis of CVF.

Introduction: Colorectal surgery (CRS) patients are at high risk for venous thromboembolism (VTE). The Caprini model elucidates that comorbidities compound to increase VTE risk, but this association in CRS patients remains undefined. We hypothesize that the compounding presence of comorbidities in patients undergoing colorectal resection (CRR) or small bowel resection (SBR) is associated with greater postoperative VTE risk.

Background: Proctocolectomy with ileal pouch-anal anastomosis is the treatment of choice for patients with ulcerative colitis with medical refractory disease or dysplasia. The aim of this research was to describe the evolution of ileal pouch-anal anastomosis surgery and surgical outcomes over a three-decade interval in a high-volume referral centre.
Methods: All consecutive patients undergoing ileal pouch-anal anastomosis for ulcerative colitis between 1990 and 2022 at the University Hospitals of Leuven were retrospectively included.

Methods: We included 225 patients from Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute & Hospital (TJMUCH) between January 2021 and June 2024, divided into RACS (n=82) and LCS (n=143) groups.
