Objective: To achieve fertilization and cleavage by spermatozoa retrieved by testicular biopsy from a male with testicular tubular atrophy.
Design: Clinical trial.
Setting: Private reproductive institute.
Patient: Azoospermic male with demonstrated testicular tubular atrophy and almost complete spermatogenic arrest.
Intervention: Open biopsy retrieval of testicular tissue and sperm followed by intracytoplasmic sperm injection.
Main Outcome Measures: Fertilization and cleavage.
Results: One four- to six-cell embryo was formed after intracytoplasmic sperm injection of five eggs with extruded polar bodies by retrieved sperm.
Conclusion: Intracytoplasmic sperm injection after testicular sperm aspiration may be attempted in cases with severely decreased spermatogenesis and result in fertilization, cleavage, and embryo transfer.

Purpose: Prior sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) thresholds for diagnosing male infertility and predicting assisted reproduction technology (ART) outcomes fluctuated between 15 and 30%, with no agreed standard. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of the sperm DFI on early embryonic development during ART treatments and establish appropriate DFI cut-off values.
Methods: Retrospectively analyzed 913 couple's ART cycles from 2021 to 2022, encompassing 1,476 IVF and 295 ICSI cycles, following strict criteria.

The endometrial and vaginal microbiota have co-evolved with the reproductive tract and play a key role in both health and disease. However, the difference between endometrial and vaginal microbiota, as well as their association with reproductive outcomes in women undergoing frozen embryo transfer, remains unclear. 120 women who underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and whole embryo freezing were enrolled.

Resveratrol can beneficially affect growth and follicle development and lead to improved sperm function parameters in pre-clinical studies, while information from clinical studies is still inconclusive. This study aims to evaluate the biological and clinical impact of a resveratrol-based multivitamin supplement on level II assisted reproduction cycles (IVF and intracytoplasmic sperm injection [ICSI]). A retrospective, case-control study, involving 70 infertile couples undergoing IVF/ICSI cycles, was conducted at the Assisted Reproductive Center, Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit-Villa Sofia-Cervello Hospital in Palermo.

Purpose: This study aimed to monitor the expression of B-cell translocation gene 2 (BTG2) in granulosa cells of patients undergoing IVF/ICSI with respect blastocyst quality outcomes.
Methods: We recruited 181 women undergoing IVF/ICSI cycles for infertility. Granulosa cells were extracted from follicular fluid.

Transvaginal ultrasound-guided follicle aspiration (TVA) is being performed frequently in equine practice, to recover oocytes for in vitro embryo production via intracytoplasmic sperm injection. While complications from TVA are rare, one of the most prevalent major complications is formation of an ovarian abscess, which can result in the necessity for euthanasia. The acute-phase serum proteins, fibrinogen and serum amyloid A (SAA) are markers of inflammation that might be of use in diagnosis of ovarian abscess.
