We have written a package called CHANNEL for determining and analyzing the channels and cavities within protein crystals. By using CHANNEL, the intermolecular space within a crystal lattice can be divided into closed cavities and channels. This package is certainly useful in determining the channel topological structure and quantitative characteristics. The package allows also the volume, and maximal and minimal areas of channels along a required direction to be calculated.

The study of gain clamping in broadband bismuth-doped fiber amplifiers (BDFA) not only helps to solve the gain instability problem due to the variation of the number of optical multiplexing channels but also is an effective way to extend the amplifier's operating bandwidth to improve the communication capacity. In this paper, we illustrate the advantages of linear cavity gain clamping through simulation. Using simulation to guide the experiments, we propose a BDFA with tunable linear-cavity gain clamping and incorporate a variable optical attenuator (VOA) in the linear cavity to enhance the flexibility of gain control.

Transmembrane glucose transport, facilitated by glucose transporters (GLUTs), is commonly understood through the simple mobile carrier model (SMCM), which suggests that the central binding site alternates exposure between the inside and outside of the cell, facilitating glucose exchange. An alternative "multisite model" posits that glucose transport is a stochastic diffusion process between ligand-operated gates within the transporter's central channel. This study aims to test these models by conducting atomistic molecular dynamics simulations of multiple glucose molecules docked along the central cleft of GLUT1 at temperatures both above and below the lipid bilayer melting point.

Transient Receptor Potential (TRP) channels are a family of ion channels that play pivotal roles in various physiological processes, including sensory transduction, temperature regulation, and inflammation. In the context of dentistry, recent research has highlighted the involvement of TRP channels in mediating sensory responses and inflammation in dental tissues and temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) structure. TRP channels have emerged as major contributors in the development of inflammatory conditions and pain affecting the oral cavity and related structures, such as periodontitis, dental erosion cause hypersensitivity, pulpitis, and TMJ disorders.

The root ducts play an important role in the plant's transport of nutrients from the soil. Based on the selective transport characteristics of plant roots, amino pillar[6]arene bionic porous root sub-nano channel membrane were constructed to remove Imazamox. Imazamox (IM) is an effective imidazolinone herbicide frequently utilized in soybean fields to control a wide range of annual grasses and broad-leaved weeds.

With the emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT), the demand on the wireless power supply to consumer electronics simultaneously requires much more location freedom, ease of use, and performance with wireless communications. In this paper, an unenclosed quasi-static cavity resonator (QSCR) constructed with metallic strips and the design method are proposed and theoretically analyzed. This unenclosed QSCR has a simple structure, which benefits the wireless charging for portable/wearable electronics and smart appliances in the office and home environment.
