Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) is an emerging critical target for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. Radiolabeled exendin-4 (Ex-4), a GLP-1R agonist, has been widely used as an imaging probe. However, its potential to induce hypoglycemia, especially in patients with insulinoma, limits its applicability.

I therapy is clinically unfeasible for anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC), due to lack of active targets and ATC's resistance to radiation. Novel radionuclide-labeled targeted nano-drug delivery systems have exhibited the potential of prominent tumor imaging and remedy. Capitalizing on recent research achievements in nanotechnology and nuclear medicine, we sought to develop a radiolabeled nano-drug, which could specifically accumulate in ATCs via tumor-selective targeted delivery system and which could treat the tumors with both targeted and radionuclide therapeutics.

Malignant melanoma tends to aggressively metastasize, resulting in it being a potentially lethal form of skin cancer with high mortality rates. The advanced stages of melanoma have a very poor prognosis because of the high tendency for metastasis, and there is therefore, a strong desire to develop efficient technology for the early detection of melanoma. The benzamide structure, which contains aromatic ring and amine group, exhibits a high affinity for melanin, making it a promising agent for targeting melanoma in diagnostic and therapeutic applications.

Biologists have significantly improved various techniques for confirming the physiological and pharmacological activity of new proteins produced by recombinant DNA technology, such as Western blotting, ELISA, and flow cytometry. Although these methods are costly and comparatively low in efficiency, our study focuses on developing a real-time approach to investigate the physiological activity of our new recombinant human insulin (rh-Insulin), which is expressed in Escherichia coli. An in vivo biodistribution study of radioiodinated rh-Insulin (I-rh-Insulin) was conducted in diabetic-induced mice, exploiting the capability of tyrosine residues in protein molecules to undergo electrophilic substitution of hydrogen atoms with traceable I atoms.

Biocatalysis using whole cell biotransformation presents an alternative approach to producing complex molecules when compared to traditional synthetic chemical processes. This method offers several advantages, including scalability, self-contained co-factor recycling systems, the use of cost-effective raw materials, and reduced purification costs. Notably, biotransformation using microbial consortia provides benefits over monocultures by enhancing biosynthesis efficiency and productivity through division of labor and a reduction in metabolic burden.
