Background: Several hypotheses regarding the pathomechanisms of schizophrenia have been proposed. If schizophrenia is a unitary disease, then these pathological processes must be linked; however, if such links do not exist, schizophrenia may best be considered a group of disorders. Only a few studies have examined the relationships among these pathomechanisms.

Background: Nardilysin, (N-arginine dibasic convertase, NRDC) has been reported to play an important role in cancer progression, and is associated with tumor proliferation signals and inflammatory signals, such as tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) and heparin-binding epidermal growth factor-like growth factor (HB-EGF), through the activation of disintegrin and metalloproteinase (ADAM) proteases. NRDC has recently been revealed to be involved in the tumorigenesis of various types of cancer, including intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, malignant cerebral infarction, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and gastric cancer. However, the expression profiles and biological relevance of NRDC in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma have rarely been reported.

Objective: Nardilysin (N-arginine dibasic convertase, NRDC) is a kind of metalloendopeptidase associated with several inflammatory diseases. NRDC is reported to be eligible for early detection of acute coronary syndrome. However, the availability and effectiveness of NRDC in predicting the prognosis of patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction has never been investigated.

Colon cancer is a complex disease affected by a combination of genetic and epigenetic factors. Here we demonstrate that nardilysin (N-arginine dibasic convertase; NRDC), a metalloendopeptidase of the M16 family, regulates intestinal tumorigenesis via its nuclear functions. NRDC is highly expressed in human colorectal cancers.

The activation of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt) is critical for the induction of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) by growth factors, including insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). The activation of intracellular lipogenesis provides proliferative and survival signals for cancer cells. In this study, we investigated the connection between lipogenesis-related EMT processes and IGF-1-mediated PI3K p110 isoform activation in primary (SW480 cells) and metastatic (SW620) colon carcinoma cells.
