Although spinal cord stimulator (SCS) therapy is generally used safely to treat chronic neuropathic pain conditions, this document highlights the less reported complication of unusual neurological problems including headaches. These developed temporally after the initiation of SCS therapy despite initial positive response to pain. The mechanisms might include activation of trigeminal receptors and neuroplasticity after SCS.

Tinnitus is correlated with anomalies of neural plasticity and has been found to be affected by inflammatory status. The current theories on tinnitus, although still somewhat incomplete, are based on maladaptive plasticity mechanisms. Astrocytes play a major role in both neural responses to inflammation and plasticity regulation; moreover, they have recently been discovered to encode "context" for neuronal circuits, which is similar to the "expectation" of Bayesian brain models.

Cisplatin is an established component of treatment protocols for various solid malignancies but carries a significant potential for serious adverse effects. Ototoxicity from cisplatin treatment is an important dose-limiting toxicity that manifests as bilateral, progressive, irreversible, dose-dependent sensorineural hearing loss, ear pain, tinnitus, and vestibular dysfunction. Despite the recent approval of sodium thiosulphate for the prevention of cisplatin-induced hearing loss (CIHL) in pediatric patients, structured prevention programs are not routinely implemented in most hospitals, and reducing platinum-induced ototoxicity in adults remains an important clinical problem without established treatment options.

Tinnitus arises from the intricate interplay of multiple, parallel but overlapping networks, involving neuroplastic changes in both auditory and non-auditory activity. Tailor-made notched music training (TMNMT) has emerged as a promising therapeutic approach for tinnitus. Residual inhibition (RI) represents one of the rare interventions capable of temporarily alleviating tinnitus, offering a valuable tool that can be applied to tinnitus research to explore underlying tinnitus mechanisms.

Objectives: Hearing aids (HAs) are a widely accepted first-line treatment option for individuals suffering from both hearing loss and chronic tinnitus. Though HAs are highly effective at improving speech understanding, their effectiveness in ameliorating tinnitus symptoms is less clear. In recent years, several investigators have reported on attempts to predict HAs effectiveness on tinnitus symptoms using an array of variables.
