The Drosophila slowpoke (slo) gene encodes a subunit of a CAK channel homologous to the vertebrate BK channel. We have examined slo expression throughout development. It is expressed in muscle cells, neurons of the CNS and PNS, mushroom bodies, a limited number of cells in embryonic and larval midgut and in epithelial-derived tracheal cells. The promoter has been cloned and shown to direct expression in the same pattern as the endogenous gene in both neural and epithelial-derived cells. During pupariation and embryogenesis, slo is expressed in muscles many hours prior to the appearance of functional channels.

Fibrinogen-related domain (FReD) containing proteins are an evolutionarily conserved immune gene family characterized by the C-terminal fibrinogen (FBG) and diverse N-terminal domains. To understand the complexity of this family in crustaceans, we performed genome screening and identified 43 full-length FReDs encoding genes in Litopenaeus vannamei. Structural classification analysis revealed these putative FReDs could be divided into six types, including two reported types (LvFReDI and II) and four new types (LvFReDIII-VI).

Although immune checkpoint inhibitors specifically targeting the PD-1/PD-L1 axis have exhibited remarkable clinical success, they are not uniformly effective across all patient cohorts. Immunotoxins, a novel class of cancer therapeutics, offering a promising alternative. PD-L1, which is also present in certain normal tissues, limits its suitability as an ideal target for immunotoxins.

Sequence-based machine-learning models trained on genomics data improve genetic variant interpretation by providing functional predictions describing their impact on the cis-regulatory code. However, current tools do not predict RNA-seq expression profiles because of modeling challenges. Here, we introduce Borzoi, a model that learns to predict cell-type-specific and tissue-specific RNA-seq coverage from DNA sequence.

Objective: This study aims to enhance the understanding of underlying mechanisms and potential therapies of the solute carrier organic anion (SLCO) transporter family in internal environment disorder (IED)-induced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This could lead to new therapeutic strategies and offer new directions for the creation of new patents for HCC treatment products.
Methods: The orthotopic transplantation (OT), IED and IED-based OT (IED-OT) mouse models were established.

The integrated analysis of histone modifier enzymes in solid tumors, especially in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), is still inadequate. Here, we investigate the expression levels of histone modifier enzymes in ESCC tissues. Notably, KAT8 (lysine acetyltransferase 8) is identified as a prognostic and therapeutic biomarker in ESCC.
