The article reviews the development of clinical neuropsychology as a professional discipline and comments on important contributions from various research fields and clinical disciplines. The consequences of disturbances in the neurotransmitter systems for neuropsychological functioning are discussed, as well as various clinical issues and the applications of clinical neuropsychology, and of neuropsychological evaluations.

A significant proportion of patients who sustain a concussion/mild traumatic brain injury endorse persisting, lingering symptoms. The symptoms associated with concussion are nonspecific, and many other medical conditions present with similar symptoms. Medical conditions that overlap symptomatically with concussion include anxiety, depression, insomnia, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and cervical strain injuries.

Background/objectives: Negative symptoms in schizophrenia spectrum disorders are related to impaired social functioning and lower quality of life, making accurate assessment important. To date, most tools for assessing negative symptoms are observational, which can be influenced by the raters' experience and opinion. Self-rating scales, like the Self-Evaluation of Negative Symptoms (SNS), could complement observer ratings by adding information from the patient's perspective.

: We conducted a project to manage a high volume of referrals to pediatric neuropsychology. We aimed to manage referrals for children and adolescents without known medical risk factors. We proposed that a clinical neurodevelopmental interview conducted telehealth would reduce the number of patients on the waitlist and identify those who do not need neuropsychological evaluation.
