Article Abstract

The metabolism of T-3761 in mouse, rat, rabbit, dog and monkey was studied. Four metabolites, other than unchanged T-3761, were detected and identified as follows: T-3761 glucuronide; T-3761M1, adduct of glucose; T-3761M2 and T-3761M3, compounds metabolized at 1-aminocyclopropyl ring. In urine of mouse, T-3761 glucuronide was mainly detected, but in urine of other animals, T-3761 was mainly detected.

Objectives: Critically ill patients in intensive care unit (ICU) are susceptible to infectious diseases, thus empirical therapy is recommended. However, the therapeutic effect in ICU patients is difficult to predict due to fluctuation in pharmacokinetics because of various factors. This problem can be solved by developing personalized medicine through therapeutic drug monitoring.

Most studies on adverse drug reactions (ADRs) of fluoroquinolones (FQs) have focused on the mechanisms of single ADRs, and no quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) method studies have been carried out that combine several ADRs of FQs. In this study, an improved three-dimensional (3D) QSAR method was established using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. This method could simultaneously consider three common ADRs of FQs using molecular parameters.

The present study examined the clinical pharmacokinetics of pazufloxacin in prostate tissue and estimated the probability of target attainment for tissue-specific pharmacodynamic goals related to treating prostatitis using various intravenous dosing regimens. Patients with prostatic hypertrophy received prophylactic infusions of pazufloxacin (500 mg, n = 23; 1000 mg, n = 25) for 0.5 h prior to transurethral prostate resection.

Emergence of antimicrobial resistance in Neisseria gonorrhoeae is a major public health concern globally, and new antimicrobials for treatment of gonorrhea are imperative. In this study, the in vitro activity of sitafloxacin, a fluoroquinolone mainly used for respiratory tract or urogenital infections in Japan, and additional newer generation fluoroquinolones were determined against ciprofloxacin-resistant N. gonorrhoeae isolates.

Division of Analytical Chemistry, China Pharmaceutical University, 24 Tongjia Lane, Nanjing 210009, China; Key Laboratory of Drug Quality Control and Pharmacovigilance, China Pharmaceutical University, Ministry of Education, China. Electronic address:

A novel colorimetric nanomaterial-assisted optical sensor for pazufloxacin mesilate was proposed for the first time. Pazufloxacin mesilate could induce the aggregation of glucose-reduced gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) through hydrogen-bonding interaction and electrostatic attraction, leading to the changes in color and absorption spectra of AuNPs. The effect of different factors such as pH, the amount of AuNPs, reaction time and reaction temperature was inspected.
