A comparative study of the viability of 34 lots of freeze-dried BCG vaccine has been carried out using an oxygen electrode polarographic technique, Warburg respirometry and colony counting. There were no statistical differences between the results obtained with the polarographic and Warburg techniques. Both methods gave reliable and similar results and showed a positive correlation (r = 0.8615). Comparison between the polarographic and colony-counting methods showed a positive correlation (r = 0.6530); for comparison between the Warburg and colony-counting methods, the correlation value was r = 0.6868. All the tests were significant at the level of alpha = 0.05. The advantages of the polarographic technique are that it is much less time- and material-consuming than other methods. It is a reliable, inexpensive and convenient method for BCG vaccine quality control.

Background: Acetyl phosphate (AcP) is a microbial intermediate involved in the central bacterial metabolism. In bacteria, it also functions as a donor of acetyl and phosphoryl groups in the nonenzymatic protein acetylation and signal transduction. In host, AcP was detected as an intermediate of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex, and its appearance in the blood was considered as an indication of mitochondrial breakdown.

Colorectal cancer is influenced by genetic mutations, lifestyle factors, and diet, particularly high fat intake, which raises bile acid levels in the intestinal lumen. This study hypothesized that bile acids contribute to tumorigenesis by disrupting ion transport and ATPase activity in the intestinal mucosa. The effects of 3-sulfo-taurolithocholic acid (TLC-S) on ATPase activity were investigated in colorectal cancer samples from 10 patients, using adjacent healthy tissue as controls, and in rodent liver function.

The primary function of spermatozoa is to fertilize the oocyte, which depends on their motility and is directly associated with their metabolic state. The oxygen consumption rate (OCR) of spermatozoa reflects the respiratory capacity of sperm mitochondria under various physiological conditions and is an essential marker of sperm quality. We determined the OCR of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) sperm using two respirometry methods: the conventionally used polarographic method with a Clark-type electrode and fluorometric assay with an Oxo Dish optochemical oxygen sensor.

Patients And Methods: Materials and Methods: Analytical methods of analysis of modern methods of determining the content of radioactive and non-radioactive pulmonary toxic xenobiotics in the ambient air of NPP equipment.
Conclusion: Conclusions: a) during operation of NPP equipment, pulmotoxic xenobiotics enter the surrounding air, which can then enter the human respiratory system in the form of radioactive or non-radioactive substances; b) signif i cant methods of determining the content of pulmotoxic xenobiotics in the air are: gas chroma-tography; gas chromatography-mass spectrometry; liquid scintillation; photometric, ionometric, polarographic, titrometric, turbidimetric, atomic absorption, radiometric and γ-spectrometric measurements; c) radioactive pulmonotoxic xenobiotics cause radiation pathologies in the respiratory organs as a result of internal radioactive irradiation of the body; d) the effects of non-radioactive pulmotoxic xenobiotics are accompanied by irritation and inf l ammatory processes in the respiratory organs, as well as toxic swelling of the lungs; е) there is a connection between the presence of pulmotoxic xenobiotics in the air and the course of human respiratory diseases as a result of breathing such air.
