Objective: Cerebrovascular autoregulation impairment has been associated with stroke risk in cardiac surgery. We hypothesized that greater arterial emboli exposure in open-chamber surgery might promote dysautoreguation.
Methods: Forty patients underwent closed or open-chamber surgery.

Objectives: Doppler velocity measurements are fundamental diagnostic criteria for vascular ultrasound examinations. Insonation angles are kept to 60° or less to minimize error. The purpose of this study was to assess variance of Doppler-detected peak systolic velocity (PSV) measurements in the internal carotid arteries at different angles (45°, 50°, 55°, and 60°) with different beam steering.

Background And Aim: Limited information is currently available about whether carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) correlates with the degree of disease activity in spondyloarthritis. The objective of this study was to evaluate the correlation between articular and carotid ultrasound data and laboratory and clinical variables in patients with spondyloarthritis.
Methods: Twenty-two patients with spondyloarthritis, recruited consecutively via the spondyloarthritis service of the Universidade Pontifícia Católica de Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, were assessed using carotid artery ultrasound (radiofrequency quality intima-media thickness, RF-QIMT), joint ultrasound, clinical evaluation, and laboratory tests.

Manual palpation of pulses is unreliable in detecting pulsatile flow in human participants, complicating the assessment of return of spontaneous circulation after cardiac arrest. Ultrasound may offer an alternative. This study's objective was to investigate whether return of pulsatile flow in humans can be reliably assessed by common carotid artery ultrasound.

Objective: To evaluate the performance of placental bed vascularization in a low-risk population to predict severe pregnancy risks. Vascularization was measured in the first trimester, using 3D power-Doppler vascularization index.
Methods: All women who registered during a period of 3 years for delivery in our hospital were prospectively screened in the first trimester.
