The authors make an analysis of the acute period and treatment of severe burns affecting over 50% of body surface. In our cases we used a SAPEX fluid bed. All patients were surgically treated after the acute period. The characteristics of intensive care include infusion of a large amount of solutions to attain an abundant diurrhesis of 100 ml per hour. Rehabilitation with respiratory exercises and isometric complexes starts at the beginning of the second twenty four hour period. Tactics of sparing activity are widely used in our clinical practice during the last years. Using it we managed to cure 10 patients with over 80% of burned body surface.
