The surgical approaches used to expose fractures of both bones of the forearm vary depending on the site and type of fracture and the degree of comminution; all have limitations. An exposure is described which allows access to most of the radius and ulna through a single skin incision.

Prognostic Value of the CURL Classification System for Proximal Ulna Fracture Dislocations of the Elbow.

J Shoulder Elbow Surg

Background: Proximal ulna fracture-dislocations comprise a wide spectrum of injury. The Coronoid, proximal Ulna, Radius and Ligaments (CURL) classification is a simple framework designed to aid surgical decision making by focusing attention on the key components of the injury and their relative severity. It has been demonstrated to have a high inter and intra-observer reliability.

Background: The most common postoperative complication of the Sauvé‒Kapandji (S-K) procedure is proximal ulnar stump instability. The distal oblique bundle (DOB) is a stable tissue used to stabilize the distal radioulnar joint. This study created finite-element models of the distal oblique bundle (DOB) to determine its effect on the proximal ulnar stump instability encountered during the Sauvé‒Kapandji procedure.

Osteogenesis with impact-loading exercise is often assessed by the extra bone growth induced in the loaded arm of tennis players. We used PRISMA to explore % bone mineral content (BMC) and area (BA) asymmetry in players 8-30 years according to weekly training hours, age, sex, maturity, and bone segment. Proper statistics for 70 groups were extracted by two reviewers from 18 eligible studies of low risk of bias (< 35, STROBE) and good quality (> 70%).

Purpose: Distal radius fractures (DRFs) are often initially assessed by junior doctors under time constraints, with limited supervision, risking significant consequences if missed. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) can aid in diagnosing fractures. This study aims to internally and externally validate an open source algorithm for the detection and localization of DRFs.
