Classification of loss of bone substance in cases of prosthetic loosening allow for planning of the most suitable type of reconstructive surgery. The use of cemented prostheses has revealed negative long-term results. For this reason a cementless implant which is entirely coated is preferred in order to allow for distal anchoring (particularly in type 2B and 2C loosening). In more severe cases cancellous or cortical bone grafts stabilized by wiring will be used.

Computed Tomography Evaluation of Morphological Types of Femoral Trochlear Dysplasia in Small-Breed Dogs-A Retrospective Study.

Department of Veterinary Surgery, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Trakia University, 6000 Stara Zagora, Bulgaria.

Abnormal trochlear morphology is one of the most important factors for patellar luxation occurrence in dogs, yet no studies have investigated its prevalence in the general population. This retrospective computed tomography study was designed to evaluate the trochlear groove morphology in four small dog breeds and the prevalence of trochlear dysplasia types according to Déjour's classification depending on the breed, sex, and medial patellar luxation (MPL) presence and grade. A total of 174 joints (68 healthy, 96 grade II MPL, and 10 grade III MPL) from Mini-Pinschers, Yorkshire Terriers, Pomeranians, and Chihuahuas were included in the study.

Multi-ligament reconstruction in adolescent patients affected by congenital femoral deficiency is an extremely rare and delicate surgical procedure. There are very few reported cases of complete anterior and posterior cruciate ligament agenesis in these patients. We present a complex case of a 16-year-old girl affected by congenital femoral deficiency and ipsilateral tibial hypoplasia who was treated successfully for a complete agenesis of the anterior (ACL) and posterior (PCL) cruciate ligament with single-sitting ACL and PCL reconstruction.

The objectives were to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of a single preoperative dose of intravenous tranexamic acid (TXA) in reducing perioperative blood loss and requirement for transfusion in patients undergoing hip hemiarthroplasty for femoral neck fracture. A double-blind randomized controlled trial was conducted in 140 patients with hip fracture. After randomization, 68 patients received a single dose of 1 gr of intravenous TXA at the start of the surgery (TXA group), and 72 received a placebo treatment (placebo group).

Can robotic arm-assisted total knee arthroplasty be applied to valgus deformity.

Arch Orthop Trauma Surg

January 2025

Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University Hospital centre (Saint Etienne), Avenue Albert Raimond, Saint-priest-en-Jarez, 42270, France.

Introduction: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in valgus knees is challenging. Optimal ligament balance, implant neutral or moderate valgus alignment are crucial but conventional instrumentations usually lead to outliers. Robotic arm assisted TKA (RATKA) advantages could answer this challenge.

Revision hip arthroscopy is increasingly common and most often performed to treat residual femoroacetabular impingement caused by cam under-resection. Unfortunately, other pathologies encountered during revision hip arthroscopy are more difficult to treat, including capsular deficiency, labral deficiency, adhesion formation, and/or cam over-resection. When encountered, these various pathologies should be comprehensibly corrected with the goals of restoring anatomy, re-establishing the hip fluid seal, and ensuring impingement-free motion.
