Spontaneous bubble growths in liquids are usually triggered by rapid changes in pressure or temperature that can lead to liquid gas supersaturation. Here, we report alternative scenarios of the spontaneous growths of bubbles inside a high-saturation-vapor-pressure and high-air-solubility perfluorocarbon liquid (PP1) that were observed under ambient quiescent conditions. First, we investigate spontaneous bubble growth inside the single PP1 phase, which was left to evaporate freely.

Cardiac fibroblasts are activated following myocardial infarction (MI) and cardiac fibrosis is a major driver of the growing burden of heart failure. A non-invasive targeting method for activated cardiac fibroblasts would be advantageous because of their importance for imaging and therapy. Targeting was achieved by linking a 7-amino acid peptide (EP9) to a perfluorocarbon-containing nanoemulsion (PFC-NE) for visualization by F-combined with H-MRI.

Purpose: Compared to conventional photodynamic therapy (PDT), oxygen-affording PDT represents a promising strategy for treating multidrug-resistant (MDR) gram-negative bacterial infections due to its enhanced sensitization ability towards bacteria and amplified therapeutic efficacy. Over the last decade, various nanoplatforms for the co-delivery of oxygen and photosensitizers have been developed. However, their application in the treatment of infectious diseases is hampered by their poor stability and easy clearance by the reticuloendothelial system (RES).

Introduction: Dodecafluoropentane emulsion (DDFPe) administration has previously demonstrated improved gas exchange in single-organ perfusion models. This could translate to prevention of brain injury in cardiac arrest.

Methods: We induced cardiac arrest in 12 pigs, performing CPR after 5-minute downtime.

This comparative study investigates the modification of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes with different nanoparticles (TiO or TiO-based composites containing BiVO and/or CNT), using three distinct methods (blending, coating, and grafting) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). The objective was to enhance the photocatalytic and filtration performance for the separation of oil-in-water emulsions. Regarding the UV activity, the PVDF-TiO/CNT/PVP-coated membrane presented the best performance.
